Synthesis and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts

I am interested in the synthesis and characterization of catalysts for various industrial and environmental applications. In addition, I am interested in understanding the fundamental relationships between catalyst structure and composition, and catalytic activity. My research involves investigating reaction mechanisms, kinetics, and surface chemistry, primarily involving biomass conversion into fuels and chemicals. Recently accomplishments include investigating the liquid-phase polymerization of furfuryl alcohol by UV-Raman spectroscopy and developing the combination and prediction spectrum method (CPSM), a useful alternate method for predicting vibrational spectra of complex models.
