I graduated from Western Illinois University (WIU) in 2020 as a student-athlete on the football team majoring in chemistry, with minors in both physics and mathematics. At WIU, I executed exploratory synthesis of Co-Sn-Te single crystals under Dr. Brian Bellott, and also examined the optical properties of Eu-doped bismuth borate glasses under Dr. P.K. Babu and Dr. Saisudha Mallur. In addition, for ~1 year at Argonne National Laboratory under Dr. Zachary Hood in the Applied Materials Division, I was able to carry out research on the stability at the Li metal anode/Li6.4La3Zr1.4Ta0.6O12 (LLZTO) electrolyte interface for solid state batteries by using a chemical decomposition technique to deposit films, followed by film characterization and Li|LLZTO|Li symmetric cell testing using a chronopotentiometry technique together with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements.
