Project Summary: I am working on the synthesis, characterization, and catalytic applications of metal nanoparticles encapsulated by metal-organic frameworks. These unique materials utilize the pore structure of MOFs to direct reactant contact with the encapsulated nanoparticle, thus causing "regioselective reactions." In particular, I am interested in looking at the influence of the MOF on the encapsulated nanoparticles and applying these catalysts to regioselective oxidation reactions.
