Time Entry

For All Group Members:

The Group Calendar

A Google Calendar exists for all group members to enter dates that they are going to be out of the Lab/off campus. In case there is an emergency it is important to know who is out of the lab so everyone can be accounted for. This is also useful for tracking vacation time by group members.

New group members should please speak to the group admin to be added to the calendar.

Postdocs must track and record their time off(see "For Postdocs" below). Students and visiting scholars should discuss the matter of vacation and time away from the lab with Profs. Hupp and Farha.

For Postdocs (Receiving funding through Northwestern and not an outside organization):

KRONOS Time Entry System

The University and the Department of Chemistry requires that Postdoc record and approve time off in the Kronos time entry system. Postdocs must also email their "timecard" to the group assistant so Prof. Hupp can review your time off.

For detailed information on how to use Kronos and the rules surrounding the system please visit the NU HR Kronos Site.

Brief Summary:

At the beginning of each month, postdocs must log into Kronos, APPROVE your Timecard for the "Previous Pay Period," making sure all vacation and sick time for the month is recorded.  University Holidays are automaticlly entered. Create a PDF or insert a screenshot into a Word file of the Timecard and Email it to the groups assistant for Joe's approval.  Make sure the whole month is visible.  Printing from your browser is also acceptable.

If you need help or have questions please let me know.  If you don’t know how to Approve your Timecard please follow the instructions in the Human Resources Kronos Page.

The timecard is usually needed before the 6th of every month
