RESEARCH PROJECT:
• Nonlinear optical laser technique, Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) spectroscopy,  used to probe chiral biomolecules at quartz/water interfaces using a fsec regeneratively amplified Ti:Sapphire Laser and OPA system
•Calculation of thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of surface-bound DNA single and double strands, as well the dynamics of the interactions between the strands (i.e. hybridization and melting)
• Use of polarization control to access chiral elements of DNA interfaces
• Contact angle measurements of functionalized glass and silica (100) surfaces
• Adsorption isotherms of humic acid binding to fused quartz/water interfaces
• Real-time UV-Vis spectroscopy to monitor humic acid concentration
