Tutoring

The Northwestern UCC offers tutoring services in chemistry to all students, regardless of membership status in the UCC. In other words, if you're a NU undergrad, you can use our free tutoring service.

FOR GENERAL CHEMISTRY ONLY: General chemistry tutoring takes place Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8pm-10pm in 619 Emerson. Students should bring their wild cards to sign in. For more information or questions, email gen. chem. tutor J.C. Jacobs (jcjacobs2007@u.northwestern.edu).

FOR ORGANIC CHEMISTRY: Free group tutoring is offered at the University Main Library in seminar room 5746 from 7-8 pm on Sunday evenings led by Berkcan Akpinar. Private tutoring with the tutors listed below may also be arranged by email for further assistance. In your email, please include:
     1. Your name.
     2. Your professor.
     3. The chapters and topics you primarily want to go over.
     4. What times work best for you to meet.
     5. General areas you would like to meet (such as "up north" or "in Norris" or "anywhere" if you have no preference).

The tutors are as follows:
Berkcan Akpinar berkcanakpinar2013@u.northwestern.edu
Marc Giesener marcgiesener2012@u.northwestern.edu
Liuchuan Tong liuchuantong2012@u.northwestern.edu
Lisa Shandley lisashandley2012@u.northwestern.edu
Emma Rabinovich emma.rabinovich@u.northwestern.edu

FOR CHEMISTRY 220 (INSTRUMENTAL ANALYSIS): Chemistry 220 tutoring is also available every Sunday at 8pm in LR2, at the same time as orgo tutoring, or you can email Liuchuan Tong (liuchuantong2012@u.northwestern.edu) directly to set up an appointment.

The tutor will email you back to confirm. If you have any problems with this process or the tutor does not show up/does a poor job, please email UCCtutoring@gmail.com to let us know. Please include the phrase "Orgo Tutoring Problem" in the subject line.
