Catalyst stabilization by atomic layer deposition

Metal oxide supported noble metal catalysts are ubiquitous in automotive, chemical, energy conversion and petroleum refining industry due to their unique chemical and physical properties. Recently, atomic layer deposition (ALD) has been applied to synthesize both metal and metal oxide catalytic materials. As an example, Pt is nanoparticle is synthesized on STO nanocuboids(Fig 1.) and these nanoparticles are found to be ultrafine and high loading.(Fig 2.)
