Emily Pentzer gave a talk at the Gordon Graduate Research Seminar and presented a poster at the Gordon Research Conference on Macromolecular Materials in Ventura, CA.
December 2008
The entire group welcomed the holiday season with a celebratory dinner at SonBinh’s house followed by a gift exchange.
November 2008
New students Amelia Delaquil, Sonia Ortiz, Prativa Pandey and Ryan Totten join the group.
The group purchased a beautiful new aqueous GPC with four different detectors!

Emily Pentzer and Tendai Gadzikwa published a paper entitled “Substrate Encapsulation: An Efficient Strategy for the RCM-Synthesis of Unsaturated Lactones” in Organic Letters.

Emily Pentzer presented a short talk at the inaugural NATO Advanced Summer Institute on New Materials via Metal Mediated Reactions in Antalya, Turkey.

Brian Stepp has successfully defended his Ph.D. and will be departing to the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague to start a postdoctoral position with Prof. Josef Michl at the end of this month. Good Luck Brian!

Congratulations to Tendai Gadzikwa for receiving the Schlumberger Faculty for the Future
Fellowship. She has recently accepted a postdoctoral position with Prof. Joost Reek at the
University of Amsterdam which will begin in Fall 2008.
DeeDee Smith and Emily Pentzer presented posters at the Lurie Cancer Center Annual Poster Center, Chicago, IL.
Rajan Vatassery, a visiting scientist, departed. He will be attending University of Minnesota for graduate school in the fall.
