Marks Group Meetings (Fall 2009)

Attention: Solid State Lunch now starts at 12:30pm on Thursdays!

Main Group Meeting

Meetings will be held in Tech K140 at 8:00 PM on the following Tuesdays.

Group business followed by a formal talk of about an hour with an emphasis on background for the
benefit of the visiting first-year students. Overview talks outline the history and background of a project
or a subgroup, followed by recent results. Our group poster session on September 22nd provides an
opportunity for first-year students to meet all current group members and discuss research projects.

A-Team Meetings
Meetings are held in the Marks Conference Room
(Tech G247) at 2:00 PM on Wednesdays.

The format will continue to be a 60 minute chalk talk,
with new group members encouraged to ask for
additional background as needed to better
understand the primary goals of your research.

Solid State Lunch
Meetings are held in the Marks group conference
room, Tech G247, at 12:30PM on Thursdays. Speakers should give summaries of recent results of
individual research projects. The first year graduate
students should talk about their project and its future
directions. Talks should be limited to 45 min (20 min if
covering “Research Goals”), and can be formal or
informal. You are welcome to bring a lunch.
