Research in Chen Group has two main themes:

• Ultrafast electronic and geometric structural dynamics in photochemical reactions for solar energy conversion processes, such as photoinduced charge separation, water splitting and catalytical reactions;
• Electronic processes in organic and hybrid materials: Tracking and control ultrafast light induced energy and electron flow at molecular level and nanoscale for photovoltaic and molecular device applications.
